For a limited time only, you can help National Geographic Explorers get the additional resources and tools they need for their active projects. Our global community of Explorers are using the power of science, exploration, and storytelling to illuminate the wonder of our world and need your help to continue their important work. To learn more about this special opportunity, read our frequently asked questions:
What does my gift go towards?
100 percent of your gift goes toward supporting the needs of NGS Explorers. NGS will use contributions to support the work of the identified Explorers and will have discretion to reallocate the funding within the Explorer community as appropriate, consistent with its mission.
What kind of costs can my contribution support?
Your support will help Explorers get the tools, equipment, technology, leadership and professional development training, and other supplies they need to power exploration and storytelling.
How were featured Explorers selected?
As this is a pilot, a small subset of Explorers participating in Explorers Festival 2023 whose projects met specific criteria were invited to submit applications to be a part of this funding opportunity. All those who applied and submitted the appropriate materials before the deadline were selected.
Is there a limit on the Explorers I can donate to?
You can pick from any of the Explorers and projects featured on the page. While you can only donate to one at a time, you are welcome to donate as many times as you’d like.
What happens if an Explorer doesn’t get the funding they need?
This may happen: That’s why every dollar counts. Your support could make all the difference to an Explorer doing important work in the area you are passionate about.
How long is this opportunity running?
You have until midnight ET on June 25 to make your donation. After the deadline, you can still make a contribution, but your gift will help support a plethora of Explorer-led projects across our five focus areas: ocean, land, wildlife, histories & cultures, and human ingenuity.
Is my gift-tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
What is the National Geographic Society’s Tax ID?
Our tax ID is 53-0193519. The National Geographic Society is a 501 (c) (3) organization.
Can I make an anonymous contribution?
You have the option to make your contribution anonymous. You can do this by selecting the checkbox "Make my gift anonymous" on the donation page of the project you’d like to support.
