With additional funding, we can deploy the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) to support our field site in Turkmenistan. This approach will use monitoring data to inform patrol management of protected areas, and help reduce poaching. I have identified a conservationist from the Balkan Department of Environment to lead long-term locally-led SMART training. Additional support will fund workshops, training and equipment needed to implement the SMART system.
